I usually avoid teen rom-coms because they're boring as hell. I decided to give this one a chance.
This film tries to go for a more progressive approach and I appreciate that.
I like that the "shy person talks to popular person without them knowing" trope was being challenged a little. However, I think if Aster was recently. happily) single and didn't feel like dating right now would have been better for her character. Instead of the usual "popular girl isn't into her popular bf anymore but stays with him because fitting in and peer pressure" trope. She could've been a character trying to rediscover her identity after the break up.
Aside from that, I did like the film a bit. It wasn't super deep or tropey. I would give it a 6.5 though if I could. It just didn't interest me too much. The way they described different kinds of love seemed a bit surface level. Just wish they would have tried to be different some more instead of playing it all safe.
Overall, Leah Lewis gave a great performance though. The guy who played Paul reminded me too much of Evan Peters for some reason though.
Very laidback teen romcom compared to other garbage Netflix releases.

I can love it, just like it made me feel a little bit seen and understood and it made me dream. You should give it a chance.
